As indicated in my About page, my job carries with it a small amount of visibility. Really small, but enough that I’d prefer to write without worrying about self-censorship. Since starting my first novel in December, I’d had an idea for a nom de plume but hadn’t finalized it. It’s now final. My pseudonym is Tyler J. Yates. You can call me Tyler.
Now that I’ve settled on a pseudonym, this site needs an overhaul. I think I’ll stick with the current moniker as well, but things have to be personalized a bit. Can it still be called ‘personalized’ if you’re using a fake name?
To some extent, this site is a journal. I’m capturing my journey from non-author to aspiring author to published author. While I’m hoping that my path will be a traditional one, I’m committed to publishing and selling my work. If it turns out no agent wants it, I’ll transition to a self-publishing goal. But that’s a long time from now. The immediate goal is getting used to being called Tyler.
